NATURALLY DYED CLOUD DOUGH
CLOUD DOUGH DIY
Messing around in the kitchen, I discovered that you can dye flour with natural spices. I used paprika to make this gorgeous orange color. The color is deceiving at first but when you add the oil, the color really pops so no need to add too much spice.
For other colors try turmeric for yellow, matcha for green, blue spirulina for blue. If you try other colors let me know what you used!
YOU’LL NEED:
2 cups flour
1 to 2 tbsp of paprika
2oz vegetable oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Pour two cups of four into a tray.
2. Add the paprika to the flour and mix together.
3. Add the oil to the flour mixture and thrust in between your hands until fully mixed together. The colors should be completely uniform.
For this sensory activity with the cloud dough, add a few toy animals and hide them in the sand like little eggs. Have your little one find them and dust them off with a brush. I used this opportunity to talk about one of the 10 Passover plagues with Nicky. The smell of this cloud dough and the animals I chose were to represent the pestilence of livestock. It is a great way to learn through play. While the little ones experience through sensory play, they learn. I’m going to be making sensory bins to represent each of the plagues.
