HOMEMADE DIY DOT MARKERS
DIY DOT MARKERS
I have been missing a red dot marker for months and I suspect my 3 year old knows where it is but won’t tell me. Am I the only one ? Or are there any other mom’s who understand?
I can’t help but find it funny and frustrating all at the same time, so I resort to making fun at home DIYs! I made some of my own dot markers using recycled items and let me tell you, OMG, they work so well!! Better than I ever expected!
I am now actually grateful to Emma for hiding the red dot marker! Look how cool these came out! Ask the little one’s to squirt the paint inside the bottles or help cut the sponge and make this whole DIY into a fun at home arts and crafts activity for kids!
MATERIALS:
INSTRUCTIONS:
Open the empty water bottle and trace the top on a sponge
Cut the circular outline out
Add a bit of paint to the empty water bottle
Dilute the paint just a little with some water
Close the bottle and shake well
Open the bottle, clean the inner rim and apply hot glue to the inside
Quickly insert the sponge cut out making sure you leave a bit of the sponge out
Secure the sponge onto the bottle with a layer of hot glue around the rim
Turn the bottle upside down and stamp the paper. Once it is fully covered in paint, the dot marker is ready to use.
An additional tip: To save it for later or to refill, simply remove the sponge and the glue rim around it. Put the cap on to save for another day. Before reapplying the sponge, make sure to shake the bottle and clean the rim so the glue sticks on well.
Did I just save you a shopping trip to get more dot markers plus gave you an amazing idea to entertain the kids? I sure hope so!
